A few thoughts from
Jon Flora, President & CEO
As autumn arrives, our focus falls on education. It’s something we’ve been trained to do since kindergarten. For NACM and our members, that means we’re hosting seminars, conferences and even short Lunch & Learn events. And, the way we host some of those is changing.
To that end, we are growing our Lunch & Learns and seminars. Based on attendance and your feedback of these activities, we hear that’s what you want. We are also helping promote conferences offered by other Western affiliates and colleagues that we believe our members will find beneficial. Much of this e-news focuses on these programs and I hope you will make note of upcoming dates so you can participate.
In the last year or so, we have seen a significant drop in enrollment in our locally taught class offerings, such as the certification sessions. In response, we have taken a hiatus and opted to refer those of you that do want the classes to NACM National.
You’ll also see that we are actively encouraging the mix of business with pleasure. Whether it’s our Hawaii Forum or the Construction Conference offered by our friends in Phoenix, you can take a day or two for professional education and add a day or two to extend your weekend a little bit. The early response has been positive to this approach so I ask you to consider it, too! We know you will learn a lot, and have fun, too.
We’ve included a few other interesting stories, below, about new products, milestones and our Job Bank. Take a few minutes to browse through them. Our lives are moving and changing quickly. NACM BCS is doing our part to help you keep up to speed. Let us know how we’re doing.
Have a great October and thanks for being part of NACM.
