NACM Business Credit Services Welcomes Laura McMillan as New President

Jon Flora Continues in Role as CEO

Laura & Jon

Laura McMillan has recently joined NACM Business Credit Services as President. Jon Flora, who has been with the organization since 2012 and now begins the path toward retirement, will continue to serve the organization as Chief Executive Officer and leader of the organization’s nonprofit entity, The Business Credit Foundation. He will also continue to serve on the National Board of Directors for the National Association of Credit Management.

“This is a thoughtful leadership transition,” said Michelle Porcelli, NACM BCS Board Chair. “Our focus is to maintain the organization’s position as an industry leader in credit management and education.”

Jon Flora Makes Indelible Contribution

Over the past dozen years, Jon Flora has made an indelible, positive difference in the organization. His work ensured transformational growth and profitability during a period of unprecedented change in the business credit and collections industry.

When he joined the organization, the first order of business was to stabilize the association’s financial footing from the Great Recession that began in 2008. This included selling its downtown Seattle office building, relocating to Harbor Island, then later to purchasing the current headquarters in Burien. Expanding education via remote learning and webinars, enhancing NACM’s commitment to Alaska and Hawaii, and adjusting to new ways of doing business during the COVID pandemic have also been integral to the organization’s success over the last dozen years.

“Those moves helped solidify our financial position and allowed us to focus on the needs of members and customers,” Jon observed. “Our priorities have been on education and customer service. All the predictive models offered by technology advancements are made all the better with the insights, advice, and expertise from our credit and collections team, here.”

“This next step in the organization’s 125-year history reflects our commitment to continuously improving credit and collections management,” Porcelli said. “Education and addressing technology advancements will continue to be our focus so we best support NACM Business Credit Services customers and members, alike. Laura’s expertise in these areas brings a welcome addition to our organization.”

Welcome Laura

Bringing Leadership Expertise

Laura brings with her nearly three decades of broad experience in leadership of non-profit and healthcare organizations, including board governance, strategic planning, member, customer and partner management.

McMillan’s strong leadership principles reflect the organization’s commitment to the future.

“We’re excited about the work ahead of us with the team we’ve brought together to plan and act on behalf of business credit and collections,” said Porcelli.“ Maintaining data and personal integrity, helping members and customer quantify the value of their work, and enhancing the capabilities of business credit and collections professionals, that’s our focus over the coming months,” said Porcelli, who serves as NACM BCS Chair through March 2025.

There will opportunities to meet Laura in the weeks ahead, including the Western Credit Conference, scheduled for October 16-18, at the Tacoma Marriott. She will also be reaching out to members and customers to solicit ideas for how this organization can meet member needs going forward.
