The famous poem from Ogden Nash reassures us that the best time of year is at our doorstep.

In Hawaii, Lei Day is the statewide spring celebration held on May 1.

In Alaska, preparation is underway for the arrival of cruise ships and thousands of visitors to the 49th state.

Here in Seattle, our biggest May Day event is the opening of boating season with a parade of yachts cruising into Lake Washington.

For NACM, spring is all about Annual Seminars and the National Credit Congress.  It’s our time to focus on education and building the commercial credit profession.  In the next month, we will be seeing most of our members at one or more events.  We look forward to networking and helping you address your credit reporting, collections and other professional needs.

We also have a new Membership Campaign starting May 1st lasting through the end of Fall.  It will be a lot of fun and I’m guessing you will want to be an active participant in helping us identify new members.

Enjoy your Spring celebration and thanks for being part of NACM Business Credit Services.

Best regards,

Jon Flora

President and CEO

One of the real values of NACM membership is the FREE Annual Seminar.  This year, we are pleased to welcome Toni Drake, CCE.  Toni is well known around NACM and has been a frequent presenter at Credit Congress.

She will be offering a presentation in two parts:  Managing Your Edge in Negotiations andTeaming with Sales.

You’ll learn how to develop a winning strategy for negotiating and learn the benefits of working together with your sales people.

We’ll also have some NACM updates and much more.  It’s not too late to register but you better hurry:

  • Fri., May 1 – Sheraton Waikiki, Honolulu
  • Mon., May 4 – Hilton Seattle Airport, SeaTac
  • Wed., May 6 — Crown Plaza, Anchorage
For more information, check out the May Event Calendar on our website.
Each session will be followed by light appetizers and refreshments, and include social time with friends and colleagues.  See you in a few days!

We have recently heard from a number of members and customers about having challenges accessing Experian credit reports while using Internet Explorer.  Besides the access issue, there is also a slight possibility of multiple reports being erroneously pulled.
This may relate to recent news that Microsoft is replacing Internet Explorer with a new product sometime later this year.  It may also be something askew on Experian’s end.

Either way, this is something NACM BCS cannot control.  We do, however, have a simple solution: change your browser.  Chrome and Mozilla Firefox seem to be working the best for most.  They are quick downloads, free, and represent easy solutions that are working well for other members and customers.

We always highly recommend keeping your software up to date!  it can solve a lot of headaches down the road.

If switching browsers still doesn’t work, please call NACM Customer Service at 206-728-6365.[/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=”Membership Campaign. Are you ready for some football?” font_container=”tag:h2|text_align:left” google_fonts=”font_family:Montserrat%3Aregular%2C700|font_style:400%20regular%3A400%3Anormal”][vc_column_text]This is spring but, hey, football season is just around the corner!  Our NFC Champions just returned from a practice in Hawaii getting ready for what will be another great season of Seattle Seahawk football.  But how does this relate to NACM and new members?  It’s simple.

If you identify 3 new members, your name will be placed in a drawing for 2 tickets to a late season Seattle Seahawks game at CenturyLink Field.  These are the hottest tickets in town and they could be yours!  But wait!  There’s more.

For each “warm lead” you submit that turns into a new member, we’ll give you a $25 gift card!  If you submit 3 names of people you know who have an interest in NACM, you could make $75 and win Seahawks tickets!

Every member is eligible whether you live in Western Washington, Alaska, Hawaii, or wherever you happen to be.  (No, we’re not springing for plane tickets but, if you win, it will be worth the trip.)

So, jump into the fray and start referring new members.  Pete, Russell, Marshawn, Richard and the rest of the ‘Hawks will be glad to have you cheering your lungs out at CenturyLink.  And, if they end up having an “off day”, there’s always shopping at Nordstrom.

Go Hawks…and NACM.[/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=”NACM Collections Services. Growing for you!” font_container=”tag:h2|text_align:left” google_fonts=”font_family:Montserrat%3Aregular%2C700|font_style:400%20regular%3A400%3Anormal”][vc_column_text]

The Collections Service Department of NACM BCS has been steadily growing in the last year thanks to you.  We’ve seen our business increase and – most importantly – our rate of collections have increased for YOU!  We’ve tried some new approaches and had good success retrieving money owed to our members and customers.

If you haven’t tried NACM Business Credit Services or it has been a few years since you used us for Collections, give us a call.  We have reasonable rates and a great track record.  Contact your Account Executive, the Collections Department or call 800.423.5710.

We think you’ll like the experience of using NACM BCS for your Collections needs.

The 87th Annual Bryce T. Wilson Golf Tournamentreturns for 2015 on September 18 at Maplewood Golf Course, Renton, WA.

It’s not too early to begin thinking about inviting your foursome, sponsoring a hole, or contributing prizes.  Steven Hopkins CCE is Chair of the new Tournament Committee and has already begun contacting members about participating.  If you’d like to be involved, send an email to him here.

The Maplewood course is very busy this year which will mean having to move through 18 holes quickly. Golfing will begin with a shotgun start promptly at 8:00 a.m. and we have to be off the course by 12:15 p.m.  Lunch, prizes and festivities will follow afterwards.

The Wilson Tournament raises money to support scholarships for professional education for our credit professionals.  Whether you like to golf or just hang out around a beautiful course, this is always a fun day for all.

See you September 18th!  Thanks to one of our early sponsors:

The 119th Credit Congress is set for May 17-20 in St. Louis. This is the biggest annual event in our profession with great speakers and special events.

We are joining with NACM Inland Northwest and NACM Oregon for an opening night kick-off party just for our members from 7:00-9:00 p.m. on Sunday.  As always, it will be a great start to the week. If you’re planning to attend Congress, plan to join us on Sunday night for a fun time with friends and colleagues.

See you soon on the banks of the Missouri River.

[/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=”Western Region Credit Conference . The CFDD National Conference will happen at the same time!” font_container=”tag:h2|text_align:left” google_fonts=”font_family:Montserrat%3Aregular%2C700|font_style:400%20regular%3A400%3Anormal”][vc_column_text]

The NACM Western Region Executives are bringing the Fall conference back to the Northwest!

We’ll be in Portland October 14-16 for what is shaping up to be an excellent educational opportunity. It will be sharp, concise and fun.

If you can’t make it to Congress this year or want new and different educational opportunities, this is your event.

The WRCC will also dovetail with the CFDD National Conference also being held in Portland this year. Aligning the two programs enables you to do both for an affordable price.

Registration prices will be $350 Early Bird prior to August 15) and $450 afterwards.

Scholarships are available, too.  You can apply via our website.

Complete details will be coming soon so mark the dates in your calendar. You won’t want to miss this year’s regional conference.

NACM recently learned of the passing of long time member, former Board member, and past Chair Larry Clement.  Prior to retirement, Larry was very active in NACM and remained connected with us even in recent years.  He was part of NACM for more than two decades and was a certified public accountant with his own firm in Seattle.

Everyone at NACM extends our condolences and best wishes to his family

We sometimes take for granted our affordable energy in the Pacific Northwest.  Yet, as our friends in Hawaii have learned, there is an option that comes from the sky.  And, it’s not rain.

Solar energy is a growing industry that is continually changing – especially in its financial payback.  Here’s an article from MSN.com that might interest you as you look to the future of powering your business or home.
