Description
SUMMARY:
Responsible for providing support to the Accounting and Credit Departments by performing a variety of clerical duties and utilizing knowledge of office systems and procedures for Homecare Products, Inc.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Process credit card transactions for VA accounts and additional customer accounts as needed
• Updates notes in GP for past due customer account status
• Process monthly statements (mail/email)
• Reply to customer requests for invoice/statement copies
• Assist Sr. Billing/Invoice Clerk with month-end closeout procedures as needed
• Assist the Billing Clerk with invoice processing as needed
• Filing customer invoices and assists with A/P filing.
• Assists Billing Clerk with outgoing mail.
• Responsible for updating procedure documents as requested by department manager
• Post customer payments (check, ACH, credit card)
• Research and resolve customer short payments or discrepancies
• Assist Credit Manager with e-commerce customer payments and disputes
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Credit and Collections Manager

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
• High school diploma or equivalent. One year working experience in an office environment. Some college coursework in accounting or related field preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written and must be able to communicate clearly both in person and on the phone.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
• Basic mathematical skills required.

REASONING ABILITY:
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Attention to detail and high level of accuracy. Requires substantial ability to problem solve and select appropriate form of action. Must have great organizational skills with attention to accuracy and detail.

COMPUTER SKILLS:
• Working knowledge of MS Word, Outlook and Excel. Strong data entry skills. Basic office skills such as typing and filing. Proficient in 10 key. Great Plains experience a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Sitting for prolonged periods of time in a cubed office environment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• Cubed office environment where possible distractions from surrounding personnel must be overcome.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality concerning financial and vendor files.
• Ability to use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
• Flexible to additional tasks and projects as needed.
